HARVEY
S. SHIPLEY MILLER
Harvey S. Shipley Miller has an extensive career
as a foundation trustee and philanthropist. After receiving a
B.A. degree at Swarthmore College, he went on to receive a J.D.
from Harvard Law School in 1973. In addition, he did graduate
coursework in art history at Harvard University.
Recent awards include: “Diploma of Merit” from the
Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, June 2002 (1st
non-Russian to receive this award), Saint Petersburg and the City
of Philadelphia Award in recognition of Distinguished Civic Service
(1997).
Among his publications are: Milton Avery: Drawings and Paintings,
1976 and New Spaces: Exploring the Aesthetic Dimensions of
Holography, 1979.
Based at The Judith Rothschild Foundation (Sole
Trustee), he is currently active with: The Museum of Modern
Art (Trustee, Trustees' Committees on Drawing and on
Prints and Illustrated Books); Philadelphia Museum of
Art (Vice Chairman of Board of Trustees Executive Committee,
