Helping Rick

ON FEBRUARY 14TH I WAS ATTACKED ON THE METRO RED LINE. ALTHOUGH I FOUGHT BACK, I SUSTAINED A LEG INJURY WHICH HAS PUT ME OUT OF COMMISSION. AS AN INDEPENDENT ARTIST, TAKING TIME FOR HEALING HAS PLACED A HUGE FINANCIAL BURDEN TO CONTEND WITH.

PLEASE HELP ME COVER EXPENSES DURING THIS DIFFICULT TIME.

Dungeon history
In the late ’80s, Durk Dehner was the publisher of Rick’s first book, CASTRO.

In early 1990, Durk Dehner hosted Rick for his first book signing in the dungeon at TOM House; this was the first time the dungeon was opened to the public.

Twenty-five years later, Tom of Finland Foundation will host Rick Castro back in the dungeon where he belongs.

Rick Castro is a filmmaker, photographer, curator, blogger, and a lifelong resident of Los Angeles. He co-directed & co-wrote with Bruce LaBruce the cult classic, Hustler White (1996) and directed Plushies & Furries for MTV (2001), the first documentary to present the subculture of Furries to the mainstream.

Rick has two published books of photography – Castro (1990) published by DPR Press and 13 Years of Bondage (2004), published by Fluxion Editions. Rick’s photography and films have been presented world wide and his work is archived at The Alfred Kinsey Institute, UCLA Library & Legacy Projects, The Chicago Leather Museum, One Archives Foundation USC, Leslie-Lohman Museum of Gay & Lesbian Art, and Tom of Finland Foundation.

In 2005 Rick founded Antebellum Gallery Hollywood, the world’s first fetish art gallery.
