Futurism In Male Art Photography

Artwork by Don Saban
Open to the public on San Pedro’s monthly 1st Thursday Art Walk
on September 7, 2006 from 7 – 11 PM.
Avant-Garde artist, Don Saban, formerly
a teacher of photography at Otis/Parsons in Los Angeles and
Principal Photographer for the University of California, Santa
Barbara, dramatically combines photography with painting and
drawing, now allowed by the digital arts world, to create a
stunningly beautiful body of work of the male nude.
At Flazh!Alley Studio, in San Pedro, Saban has assembled remarkable
examples of his newest works. Saban's photographs are experimental
in the sense that the photographic image becomes the canvas
to explore his artistic vision. Far from attempting to explain
his work, Saban asks of the viewer, "What do you think
it's about?"
With an eye towards the future of fine art photography and art
in general, Saban takes his current work in a new direction.
While he continues to do photography, his experimental digital
work with color and design that is spiritual, celestial and
mythical constitutes a unique and illuminating addition to his
already well established body of work.
