| TOM OF FINLAND FOUNDATION
Tip's
of the Hat and Odds & Ends:
 |
The Tom
of Finland Foundation has a new FaceBook profile under
nonprofit organizations. Our previous one simply vanished.
According to the National
Coalition Against Censorship, Facebook receives ever larger numbers
of complaints for its removal of artwork, including globally recognized
masterpieces, containing nudity. Its policy regarding artwork remains
arbitrary.
So, join us on FaceBook,
we're back! |

Artiste
and friend, Paris-based Xavier Gicquel, donated two exquisite works
to ToFF during his visit to the States this past March. The drawings;
a preliminary work of a handsome male figure in a rumpled Tom of
Finland tee, the other; a studly full-color leatherman in chaps
and harness, were graciously added to the Foundation’s extensive
Permanant Collection of beautiful erotic art.
We are proud
to accept Xavier’s pieces into our collection and look forward to
be called upon to assist numerous other collectors, admirers and
artists in both protecting and showcasing their work.
Xavier Gicquel
(French) lives and works in Paris. After his studies at Duperré
art school, he worked as a fashion illustrator for Pierre Balmain
and Nina Ricci. He specializes in male erotic drawings. Among all
his sources of inspiration, he often sites Domino and Nigel Kent.
His work is regularly published in magazines such as Honcho,
Gay Vidéo, Illico, Plan K and Projet X. Gicquel’s
drawings have been shown in Paris, Los Angeles, New York, Berlin,
Amsterdam and Milan. His first monographic book, Rough and Queeny
was printed in 2006 for Bruno Gmünder.

On Friday
May 27, editor-in-chief for Bruno Gmünder Verlag's book department,
Stephan Niederwieser, visited the TOM House to talk about projects
that are currently in the works. Based in Germany, Gmünder
is an international publishing house for gay books, calendars and
magazines.
We also introduced Stephan
to many local artists and kept him quite busy. A terrific dinner
was served, followed by great conversations on the patio.

Did You Know…?
It can be frustrating viewing
websites pages
where text and images are too small (or too large) for easy reading.
If you have a center wheel
on your mouse, there could be an easy solution.
Just press and hold down the <Control> key on the keyboard
and move the wheel to enlarge or shrink the displayed text and images.
It doesn't always work correctly,
but it often does.
