Tip's

Taking
a break from his hectic schedule, Santa Claus dropped in to say
hello to all of the good(?) boys and girls attending our Holiday
Potluck — our annual soirée for Members, Volunteers
and friends of the Foundation. Everyone had a chance to sit on Santa's
lap and steal a kiss.
Thanks to Lorenzo
Gomez for capturing the action! You can see more of Santa at
TOM's
Blog .

TOM takes
the stage in Helsinki Boy/Manlesque.
Both burlesque and BOYlesque
are HUGE in Helsinki these days. Heres a hilarious routine Epe
and his troupe, The Hell Montey (a comedic group who play off The
Full Montey film) are now performing in shows. They give a direct
nod towards TOM and use one of his images.
Most the guys run off
to be with the worker girls, but one stays behind to enjoy his Tom

ToFF Volunteer,
Maija Liisa Ingebrigtsen, translated a 30 panel
story in our Permanent Collection that Tom created in 1946. Tom
did the captions of his very early works in Finnish.
It was wonderful having
Maija Liisa — Norwegian, but with a Finnish mother —
at the Foundation while she was in Los Angeles.
Here's a sample:
Guy 1: “Damn,
boss. Can I try it?”
Guy 3: “Fabulous tail!”
Guy 2: “Awesome thing!”

Carmine Santaniello in Noisy Rain

Carmine Santaniello is
proud to announce that his work has been featured in the magazine
Noisy Rain, Issue 7.
His recent works are mixed
media monoprints utilizing urban images that he photographs, along
with drawing through a printmaking process: Paper Lithography.
He is greatly
inspired by urban images such as graffiti, dripping / splattered paint,
marred subway tiles, posted bills, etcetera. He sees them as intriguing
environments that work so well to house his figures and portraits.
He loves the contrast of the beautiful male form in a somewhat seedy
urban setting.

| Prestigious
Representation of Tom of Finland at
The Millionaire Fair through Gallerie MooiMan
Pages
from Gallerie MooiMan catalogue.
For the first time worldwide,
an LGBT male/gay art gallery was represented in the Miljonair
Fair in Amsterdam. Gallerie MooiMan participated in the 10th
annual Fair held in December in Amsterdam. Proceeds from the work
sold at auction were donated to the Friends of the Gaykrant Foundation.
From the catalogue:
Tom of Finland's
driving force through the four decades of his artistic career was
to provide positive role models for Gay men inspiring messages of
self pride and happiness in men loving men. His work transcended
into the popular culture and became part of the culture.
His works reside in many museums of the world like MoMA in New York.
He has been hailed as one of the most influential artists of the
last century. It is difficult to find any one other individual who
has done more for Gay liberation than this humble Finn who spent
most of his working career in his studios in Finland and America.
