TOM OF FINLAND FOUNDATION
Tips
of the Hat and Odds & Ends:
|
Tom of
Finland Foundation is most thankful for the generous contribution
made by the Los Angeles Division of the California Boots
and Breeches Corps.
We are here because friends
are there for us. TOM’s Foundation exists with your contributions.
Check out photos
from their recent holiday party at the Foundation. |
|
Rikki
Crowley, aka Rica
Shay, is one adorable, nasty artist. He heard his Starrfucker
mag was at the Foundation and had to come over to check us out.
He had a great tour and is interested to learn about the creative
process of other artists.
He promises to be back
this summer and do some modeling for us. He ran off to perform at
Fubar
in West Hollywood. |

Santa? Wow! |
Tom of
Finland Foundation's Holiday Potluck at TOM House
on the 16th of December welcomed everyone with open arms and big
hugs. Santa (Pete Finland) was there to spank both "naughty
and nice"!

Fernando Carpaneda
FERNANDO CARPANEDA (Brazilian),
Biker Jerking Off, 2012, Clay, cement, human hair,
fabric, wood and acrylic paint, 8" x 3.37" x 3.37"
Carpaneda was born in Brasília,
Brazil. He works with clay sculptures. His main theme is always the
human being. He watches people in the streets, bars, concerts, and places
where people sell their bodies.
Fernando makes portraits
of rent boys, punks, junkies, thieves and outcasts. Instead of attaching
himself to muses, he focuses on male nudes to compose his art pieces,
having the human being, the masculine, as the main goal in his work.
All his portraits are like a relic, a holy place, a moment caught in
time.
ToFF is very proud to have
this wonderful sculpture in its collection. Catch an interview with
the artist on TOM's
Blog.

Nancy Peach
S. R. Sharp, ToFF curator
and Nancy Peach, artist.
In 2008, I became interested
in the art of Japanese erotic bondage called Shibari, which came into
use in the west in the 1990s to describe the bondage art Kinbaku.
Kinbaku means tight binding, using simple yet visually intricate patterns.
Japanese bondage is very much about the way the ropes are applied and
the pleasure is more in the journey than the destination.
The patterns that are created in this particular style of rope bondage
by the Nawashi (rope master) are fascinating to me and I continue to
be intrigued with the beauty.

A Tribute
To Tom In Tom of Finland: Life and Work of a Gay Hero From
Alex Marte

A
21st century man inspired by the masculine images Tom created!
Unfortunately for Tom,
he was just too far ahead of the crowd in many things. Take leather,
for instance. Since the fifties, when only really tough guys wore the
black-leather uniform of the alienated loner, leather became one of
the great fashion trends of the twentieth century. By the nineties,
everyone wore it, even a young matron taking a similarly-clad daughter
to the mall.
But Tom was into leather
back in the forties. This was so early that, while the postwar rebel
without a cause had already come into existence, he had not yet discovered
black leather; he was still wearing brown.
