A musical depicting the life of the visual artist Touko Laaksonen, best known by his pseudonym Tom of Finland, will premiere at the Turku City Theatre in January 2017.
Playwright Tuomas Parkkinen’s words and lyrics focus on Laaksonen’s art, its effects, and the man’s dreams.
“The musical tells the story of Touko Laaksonen’s journey to become Tom of Finland. A man, who drew his fantasies so true and accessible that millions of men found themselves and their sexuality,” Parkkinen said.
The musical premiere is directed by Reija Wäre, with songs composed by Jussi Vahvaselkä and Jori Sjöroos.
The performance is part of the official Finnish centennial jubilee programme.
